Illegal structure demolished in Suid Street

Nobody, including informal traders, are allowed to trade or erect a structure in a residential area

Public Safety reacted promptly when an illegal structure was erected in the industrial area in Suid Street last week. The structure was removed an hour after it was reported. Public Safety officers are responsible for ‘squatters’ and the removal of illegal structures in residential areas. Nobody, including informal traders, are allowed to trade or erect a structure in a residential area. They are only allowed to trade or erect a stall in designated areas of town. These traders must obtain a permit from the Department of Technical Services. Without a permit, they are not allowed to trade at all and then an illegal structure will be demolished or removed.
