It is alleged that this fight has since escalated and spread to the outside community.

Boys living on the lower side (Xulu area) are now fighting those living in the upper area (Embuzweni area).

SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan said that Ladysmith police officers responded to the scene.

“The officers discovered that two male students, aged 16 and 17, had allegedly stabbed each other. The boys were treated by medical personnel at the school. A search was conducted by police within the school and illegal weapons were seized.  No criminal cases have been registered for investigation as yet,” said Khan.

Consultation between the School Governing Body (SGB), parents, educators and the SAPS Social Crime Prevention Unit is in progress.
