Arrested for allegedly trying to bribe police officers

The officers pretended to accept the bribe and then made the arrest

A passenger in a minibus taxi was arrested for allegedly trying to bribe police officers.

Officers from the Ladysmith Dog Unit (K9) stopped a minibus taxi on the N3 at the Tugela Toll Plaza on Saturday (March 12).

There were 15 passengers on board and upon searching the passengers’ luggage, two bags were discovered to contain laptops. The owner of the bags failed to supply proof of ownership and neither could he account for having the laptops in his possession.

The brazen suspect then allegedly called the officers aside and offered them a cash bribe. The policemen pretended to accept the bribe, and then immediately arrested the man and read him his rights.
