ESTCOURT KZN: Dismal state of popular recreational park

Resourceful drivers have now carved out a single-vehicle off-road path to gain entry to the park

Lambert Park is a much-loved spot for sport and recreation among locals and visitors.

However, the current state of the park is ‘uninviting’.

Large and deep potholes at the entrance and exit to the road are filled with rainwater and cover the majority of the road surface.

Resourceful drivers have now carved out a single-vehicle off-road path to gain entry to the park.

Along the scenic Bushman’s River that flows through the park, the grass is waist-height, hindering families and friends from utilising this area. Instead, groups of people can be seen parking, picnicking or braai’ing on the sports fields.

There is an obvious lack of maintenance at one of Estcourt’s few recreational facilities.
