Mroza Buthelezi, who is a breakfast show presenter, motivated the children and told them that 'education is in style and will never go out of fashion'.

On Monday, broadcasting station Ukhozi FM visited one of the schools in Vryheid. Besterspruit Primary School warmly welcomed the Ukhozi FM team. The station has a campaign called ‘back to school’, where they give motivational talks and hand out sanitary pads and shoes to the most needy learners.

The principal of the school, Sabelo Vincent Mbuli, commented that, “The Department of Basic Education also have a campaign called QLTC (Quality Learning and Teaching Campaign), where the focus is on stakeholders like businesses and individuals assisting and also taking responsibility in teaching and learning at schools”. He added that it helps the community to have a sense of ownership of the school.

As part of its strategic plan to strengthen the partnership with stakeholders, the ‘back to school’ QLTC SGB committee engaged with the SABC (Ukhozi FM) to deliver the campaign and motivate the learners. Mroza Buthelezi, who is a breakfast show presenter, motivated the children and told them that ‘education is in style and will never go out of fashion’. She said it is one of the things one can boast about, and also emphasised that importance of learners staying in school. “The children were so excited to see the people they normally hear on radio. It was a beautiful day for us as the staff of Besterspruit. The station delivered sanitary towels to the girl learners, as well as other school necessities,” the principal concluded.
