Suspect arrested for robbery:
Newcastle Detectives are investigating a case of robbery with a weapon.
This took place on February 12 at about 08:00 am in an open field in Kwamathukuza.
According to Lizzy Arumugam of the Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications office, the complainant was allegedly threatened with a knife.
The victim was then robbed of his cash and a cell phone, all to the value of R2 200.
“Community members showed the complainant the house where the suspect lived, and the police were contacted.”
The suspect was arrested and charged and has since appeared in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court.
Investigations continue.
