Aster Cricket Club played Colita Cricket Club in a T20 match at Lambert Park on Saturday (February 12). Aster batted first and amassed a respectable 86 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Best batsman for Aster was Nabeel Mahmoud, who scored 18 runs.
Best bowler for Colita CC was Shannon Iyavoo with three wickets for 11 runs in four overs. Colita then went in to bat and were all bowled out for 57 runs in the 18th over. Tavish Ramthol and Suvedh Ramprith contributed 10 runs each.
Best bowler for Aster was Sanesh Theeloshun with three wickets for eight runs. Aster thus emerged victorious after a hard-fought encounter.
Umtshezi CC hosted Umzinyathi CC in the KZN Inland Promotional League on Sunday (February 13).
Umtshezi won the toss and chose to bat first. This turned out not to be such a great decision, as the playing conditions worked against them. Umtshezi were bowled out for 87 in the 28th over.
Best batsman for Umtshezi was Romendran Iyavoo, scoring 37 runs off 49 balls. The Umtshezi bowlers fired on all cylinders as they tried to dismiss Umzinyathi, but it was not to be and victory eluded the home side.
Umzimyathi chased down the target in the 22nd over to win the match. The best batsman was Aadil with 35 runs off 39 balls.
Best bowler was Suvedh Ramprith, taking two wickets for 25 runs in seven overs. Youngster Deolyn Naidoo also put in an impressive performance by picking up one wicket for 14 runs in four overs.
