District mayor resolves water challenges

The aim of the visit was to address community complaints regarding water issues

In his attempt to resolve water challenges, uThukela District Mayor Inkosi NB Shabalala visited Intshele, Komane, Fitty Park and surrounding areas on Thursday (February 3). The district mayor was accompanied by Water, Sanitation & Technical Services chairperson Cllr MM Khoza, ward councillors and the administrative team.

The aim of the visit was to address community complaints regarding water issues and provide solutions to their concerns.

Community members from Ntshele and surrounding areas are fed up about water shortages in the area. 

Temporary measures suggested

Water Services general manager Mr B Mnguni said there are projects in the pipeline to supply water. However, while they are waiting, they will use temporary, cost effective structures as suggested by the mayor.

Later in the day, the mayor and his team held a meeting with councillors at the Indaka council chambers, where they were joined by Alfred Duma Local Municipality Deputy Mayor S Simelane to further discuss water shortages and solutions to supply clean, potable water to communities.
