First female president for local temple

This wealth of knowledge and experience will keep the light of the temple burning bright

The Hindu Thirukootam & Shree Ganaser Temple has elected its first female president in its 111-year history.

She is Mrs Jeanni Beukes, who hails from two founder member families (Pillay and Chetty). She is also the first female priest of this iconic temple, dating as far back as 1910.

New committee

The new executive committee is made up of:

President – Mrs Jeanni Beukes.

Vice-president – Miss Trisha Mudaly.

Secretary – Miss Kimberley Nanan.

Assistant secretary – Mrs Anusha Sumiran.

Treasurer – Mr Suben Govender.

Assistant treasurer – Mr Cameron Govender.

Ladies’ chairperson – Mrs Sue Nanan.

Youth members

“It is indeed an honour for the current executive committee to serve our community. “For the first time, the committee has three youth members,” said Beukes.

This wealth of knowledge and experience will keep the light of the Hindu Thirukootam & Shree Ganaser Temple burning bright. All Covid-19 rules are still in place – no mask, no entry.
