Vehicle goes up in flames in parking lot

Fire-fighters immediately responded to the scene

The owner of a silver VW Polo was in a state of shock after his vehicle went up in flames today (January 24) at the Oval Shopping Complex parking lot.

Speaking to the owner of the vehicle, he said, “I went with my family to Spur for a late lunch and when I looked outside, I saw that something was burning in the area where I had parked my car.” 

He rushed outside to see what was going on and to his horror, he saw that his car was on fire.

Many bystanders gathered around to see the fiery spectacle.

Alfred Duma Municipality fire-fighters immediately responded to the scene to put out the blaze.

Luckily, there was no one in the car at the time. Public Safety officers ensured that people stayed at a safe distance and that no one was injured.
