VRYHEID KZN: Orphans say ‘no’ to all forms of violence

the event was put together with the aim of saying NO to GBV and all forms of violence against women and children, as well as NO to rape, murder and abuse.

A gender-based violence (GBV) march was recently organised by the Nkosibagcine Orphans (HIV/AIDS) organisation, which is situated in the Emakwatasi area. The march was held on December 16.

The organisers were Lindiwe Mgabhi (director), Jabu Sibiya, Nomsa Dlamini, Ntombifuthi Mtshali, Thembi Thabethe and Smangele Nyathi. They mentioned that the event was put together with the aim of saying NO to GBV and all forms of violence against women and children, as well as NO to rape, murder and abuse.

There was singing and dancing as people from eBhekuzulu location, Kwatas, eMadoshini and the Sasko area embraced the message and took to the streets of Vryheid to make their voices heard. “In this march, we said NO to being abused by taxi drivers, politicians, parents and community members.” Both girls and boys showed their support for the march as they recited poems and sang songs as part of the entertainment.

The organisers would like to thank the Studio Shop, Taxi Office, Red Fox bottle store, Juice & Spice Shop and the Ward 8 councillor for making donations to ensure that their day was a success.
