Two lives were tragically lost in two separate motor vehicle accidents on the N3 near Estcourt in the early hours of this morning (January 14).

The first crash took place just before 02:00 on the northbound carriageway, involving a truck and a bus. There were 54 passengers on the bus. Five of the passengers were severely injured, while three sustained minor injuries. 45 were unscathed. The driver of the bus was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second crash took place at about 02:30, involving a combi and a truck. There were four passengers in the combi. The driver was badly injured and one of the passengers was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash took place on the southbound carriageway.

The driver of the truck was uninjured.
