We welcome the year 2022 but as usual, the year didn’t come with any manual instructions.

Happy New year! Happy 2022. First of all, it is my pleasure yet again that I got this opportunity where I will share my thoughts with you on this platform, such is something that I will never take for granted. I hope and pray that all of us will have a meaningful and prosperous year per our wishes. Hopeful we haven’t lost the ‘culture’ of jotting down all our New Year resolutions. Yes! that always becomes the most important part at this time of the year.
Last week of December in 2021 I had a chance to go do shopping in one of the busy shops around Dundee. After paying for the items that I bought, a beautiful cashier was merciful enough to offer me a calendar for free. Without paying much attention to the calendar, I just threw it inside the grocery trolley; after all, I knew that it was just a normal calendar with the same 12 months and 360 something days in it for the upcoming year. Upon my arrival at home shortly after sorting out the groceries, something from the calendar caught my attention. The calendar was well designed with the combination of bright colours, all the 12 months for the year 2022 were there but I quickly noticed that the calendar had two extra months. The two extra months did not reflect the year 2022 rather it was January and February 2023, for the moment I posed and shifted all my focus to the calendar.
It was not my first time seeing the calendar being designed in such a manner but on the day it felt like it was my first time experiencing such a thing. WOW! The designer of this calendar is OPTIMISTIC! Believe me when I say that is one thing that quickly flashed through my mind when I noticed that the two extra months were reflecting the year 2023. Mind you, we were still 2 weeks before bidding farewell to 2021 at that time, and at the same time we were preparing to welcome and face the twelve months of 2022 but here the designer of the calendar in front of me had the year 2023 in mind. That is just great, fantastic! I am not sure whether the designer was aware or not that by adding those extra two months he/she was manifesting something in our lives. What is that thing, she/he was manifesting without realising?
We welcome the year 2022 but as usual, the year didn’t come with any manual instructions. No one has instructed or given us a thorough update of how this year will be, actually we don’t even know what to expect. We have plans but there is no guarantee that those plans will be the results of what our hearts desire. As much as we don’t even know what tomorrow has stored for us, but one thing I know is that we are allowed to be optimistic and there’s totally nothing wrong with that. Wherever you are, be rest assured that you are allowed to dream beyond everybody else imagination. The pattern of living doesn’t change unless we decide to change our lifestyle and the way we think. Yes, we may have different worldviews, opinions, and strategies but without implementations, we will remain devastated and frustrated.
How I wish we may all be possessed with the desire to transform our minds in a positive way, always. We might be just 10 days in the first month of the year but trust me things could remain the way they are in your life until the last 10 days of the twelve-month of 2022 if you won’t commit yourself in a positive way. As much as we will still encounter obstacles even this year but I believe anything is possible. If a ‘homeless’ man can burn the parliament building then everything is possible in life, don’t you think? Who thought a ‘homeless’ man can burn the parliament building? Exactly! That is my point.
Pity we can’t live without politics and every drama it comes with especially in our country but we can learn a few things from politicians, mind you I am not encouraging the culture of stealing and dishonesty but let us be encouraged to seize the opportunity when it presents itself. Some opportunities like load shedding and state capture report they couldn’t wait for the approval of the majority but somehow they availed themselves. So in 2022, you do not have to wait for other people’s approval. Just take the opportunity and run with it and don’t forget to be OPTIMISTIC because anything is possible if you apply your positive mind to it.
