DUNDEE KZN: Karate students kick their way to success

Among the nine candidates were Aamina Pandor (Shodan), Trisha Rajkumar (Nidan) and Vishen Bhoonpershad (Sandan) from the Dundee JKA dojo.

Following the last edition concerning the visit and training session with 6th Dan Sensei Johan Le Grange, we are happy to announce that nine karateka from NKZN JKA moved to the next grade and were awarded their hard-earned and well-deserved first (Shodan), second (Nidan) and third (Sandan) degree black belts.
Sensei Le Grange is also the technical director of the Japanese Karate Association (JKA) of South Africa and chief instructor.
Among the nine candidates were Aamina Pandor (Shodan), Trisha Rajkumar (Nidan) and Vishen Bhoonpershad (Sandan) from the Dundee JKA dojo.
“I am proud of the students for their achievements,” said Sensei Johan Swart, area head and chief instructor of the Northern KwaZulu-Natal JKA region.
“Becoming a black belt in JKA karate is not just hard work and dedication; it takes commitment and years of endless training where one is not only taught the fine art and technique that is karate, but also where one learns the ‘way of the warrior’ by practicing the five maxims of karate in one’s daily life as well.
“These are: character, sincerity, effort, etiquette and self-control.”
For any information regarding class times and fees, contact Sensei Vishen Bhoonpershad on 071 410 9768 or Sensei Johan Swart on 083 658 7157.
