VRYHEID KZN: Artist initiates programme to uplift the youth

He wants to get the word out to the community that he is available, and he invites anyone to join him to uplift the youth

Thomas Twala is passionate about the youth of today. He is a very talented artist and would like to teach the youth or anyone who wants to learn, free of charge. While teaching the finer skills of drawing, he wants to motivate and encourage the youth. “I want to inspire the young so they can learn. My objective is to create a forum where we can teach the youth different skills and enable them to look forward to a bright future. I want to put Vryheid on the map, because I know that Vryheid has a lot of talent among the youngsters. I saw the possibility and that is why I came forward to see how I can help to groom them. I also want to teach them about unity. It would be easier for me if I could join hands with other people to assist in this worthy cause to teach them all aspects of their abilities. I am only one person and I cannot teach them everything, but I can teach them about art.” At this stage, Thomas is offering his services at his home in Bhekuzulu, but his aim is to have a venue to accommodate more children. He wants to get the word out to the community that he is available, and he invites anyone to join him to uplift the youth. He believes that unity is the key to motivate the youth. “There are few job opportunities and I want to teach young people about entrepreneurship.” Thomas says people of all races must unite: “Eye for an eye doesn’t work; it makes people blind.”

Anyone who wants to assist Thomas and who wants to contribute their talents or expertise to this initiative can contact him on 078 471 3998.
