No water in Aloe Park for days

Residents suffer without water for days on end, with no tankers being dispatched by uThukela

Residents of the Aloe Park area are up in arms about the water shortages affecting the area over the past few days. Most of the streets are without water at all, with some having supply that’s ‘on and off’.

“We have been struggling with water for some time now and it’s annoying. Sometimes water comes back for an hour and then it’s gone again. We experience water shortages each and every day, and it’s unacceptable,” said a concerned resident.

IFP Cllr Abbas Warasally said he requested a water tanker from uThukela yesterday (November 18), but up until today, it hasn’t arrived. “This kind of service will change when the IFP takes over the municipality next week. It can’t be acceptable that the community should wait 24 hours for a water tanker to arrive,” he said.

Cllr Warasally further passed his gratitude to Mr Abed Karrim from the Al-Imdaad Foundation for providing a water tanker. The tanker had to come all the way from Estcourt to assist the community.

Cllr Warasally said that the recent response he received from uThukela is that, as of today (November 19), they have started pumping water at full capacity. He asked that residents be patient, as this will take time.
