DUNDEE KZN: DHS prefects raise the bar and honour the fallen

Not only did the prefects raise over R1000 and two boxes of non-perishable food, they also created a bit of spirit and good old-fashioned fun before the exams

The prefect body of 2022 has been quite busy under the guidance of Mr Botha and Mrs Kotze in
their efforts to raise money for community projects. They are also working very hard to maintain a
strong sense of discipline in and around the school.

At the end of October, they had their
orientation braai where they got a chance to connect as a team and discuss possible ideas for the
school.
Their first project for term 4 of 2021 consisted of raising money for Malusi Community Centre where
learners were allowed to bring their books in anything but their school bags.

Not only did the prefects raise over R1000 and two boxes of non-perishable food, they also created a bit of spirit and good old-fashioned fun before the exams officially commenced. Some of the interesting ‘bags’ were
a fishing net, a spade, a microwave, a pram, a shopping trolley and many more! It was great to see
learners’ creativity and spirit in the name of a good cause.

On Sunday, DHS head boy, Siphephelo Ngema and Lynda Mabhida had the opportunity to honour
fallen students and educators from Dundee High School during World War 1 and 2 at a
Remembrance Service. When asked about the importance of such an event, they responded with:

“For us as young people, it should always be important to not only have a vision and plan for our
way forward in life, but to pay respect and to honour those who have come before us.” It was a day
of remembering and showing respect and honouring the fallen.
