Dillon Naidoo’s family lay him to rest

"We have spent our lives grooming you into a true gentleman, and because you were the best, God took you first."

Dillon Naidoo’s family and friends have laid him to rest.

In an emotional ceremony on November 13, family and friends had the opportunity to say their final goodbyes.

Dillon (34) passed away after succumbing to injuries incurred during what is believed to have been an illegal drag race on October 22.

The two men implicated in his death were first charged with reckless and negligent driving.

These charges have since been amended to culpable homicide.

The accused were scheduled to appear in the Newcastle Magistrate’s Court on November 11 to have their charges amended.

However, the case was postponed to November 21, when the court will officially decide what charges the suspects will face.

Family pays tribute to Dillon:

Family and friends of the late Dillon Naidoo have sent in their heart-felt tributes, honouring him and the remarkable role he played in their lives. Here are a few messages:

A poem from former classmates

A sweet soul from our crew.

Who knew that you would be the first to leave us and pass this physical life by….

when we met you, you started off so super shy.

Our high school days filled with crazy and fun is right where it all begun.

You walked in and passed us by and we knew you were one of us… and that you were our kinda guy.

You joined the south African crew and we were all friends , in a foreign country setting all kinda trends.

Your first day at school your shoes were so shiny, we instantly knew you came from back home and oh was it timely.

You added some Durban spice to our already established friends and we just knew you would stick with us until the end.

Being in a foreign country I think we all struggled a bit, but a new friend from home meant our group became legit.

Your kind and caring nature always stood out among all, your smile and your laugh was infectious for sure.

As your life on earth has come to an end we want you to know that you were an amazing friend.

Now you have angel wings looking down from above, I know you are looking over everyone that has filled your heart with love.

I don’t even think you realise the impact that you’ve made, and

Just how many of us wish we could hug you again.

For now our dear friend until we meet again, forever in our hearts is where we keep a friend.

ALL OUR LOVE. Your friends from Melville High. Forever young. Rest easy Dilz… We love you. Until we meet again dear friend! – Jessica Finch
