Municipal staff to capture household data today

EPWP personnel will be dispatched to conduct door-to-door surveys using 'short and easy questionnaires'.

The Newcastle Municipality’s EPWP staff will be capturing household data today.

In an urgent notice issued by its communications unit, residents were informed that EPWP personnel would be dispatched to use ‘short and easy questionnaires’.

“Residents are urged not to be alarmed by our EPWP officers,” explained Mlungisi Khumalo, Head of Communications.

“During official hours (08:00 to 16:00) they will be making door-to-door visits. Please be advised the deployed groups may be identified by green municipal reflectors, authentic municipal tags and EPWP uniforms.”

Khumalo confirmed the survey assessments would be an ‘essential component of our strategic planning’.

“These are critical in eliminating future service delivery backlogs,” he explained.

Information gathered will assist the municipality in deciding how to allocate funding for service delivery based on the following criteria:
  1. The number of houses connected to water
  2. Sanitation purposes
  3. Number of houses receiving refuse collection services.

“Your co-operation in this regard will be highly appreciated.”
