Alfred Duma Local Municipality issued a notice today (November 15) about a job scam doing the rounds in town, targeting the youth. It is a ‘municipal jobs for cash scam’ that promises jobs in return for money.

According to the municipality, the appointment of job creation employees is a process where nobody pays money for a job.

Social media

The scam artists have allegedly hacked municipal councillors’ and employees’ personal Facebook accounts to facilitate this job offer scam. Council encourages the public not to pay / deposit money for an interview or a municipal job.

Refund

The municipality has distanced itself from this scam and will not refund anyone who has been scammed through a municipal job offer.
