VRYHEID KZN: Paddadam Market an ‘ant’s nest’ of activity

Music filled the air and even the geese were on their best behaviour to impress all the market-goers

Residents once again enjoyed a lovely Saturday morning outdoors at the Paddadam Late Spring Market. The stalls were filled with handmade décor, home items, rusks, biscuits, sweet treats, a few handmade jams and other products. Most of the local non-profit organisations also had a stall to raise some much-needed funds. There was a second-hand book stall from the Sizanani Non-Profit Organisation, where they sell the books to raise money to help rural communities. This organisation trains people in the art of sewing, vegetable gardening and broiler production. They teach participants the necessary skills to start a business, also focusing on community health where their health workers care for the sick and educate people about health issues. They rely on donations of old books and ask the community of Vryheid to please donate any literature to them, or contact Marga Baron on 084 811 8142.

The market was busy, busy, busy and it was clear that people needed to socialise and engage with friends and family while having a relaxed day of shopping. Music filled the air and even the geese were on their best behaviour to impress all the market-goers. They say there is no better gift than the one that is handmade and given with love… Keep an eye out for the Christmas Market in December, where you can do all your Christmas shopping in advance.
