ESTCOURT KZN: 2021 municipal elections – what voters had to say [GALLERY]

Reporters from the Estcourt News were out at local voting stations today and spoke to some of the residents that were voting in the 2021 municipal elections

Reporters from the Estcourt News were out at local voting stations today (November 1) and spoke to some of the residents that were voting in the 2021 municipal elections.

Here are the reactions and comments from the voters:

Devanand Chaturi and Veronica Bundiparsad.

While Mr Chaturi had to cast his vote at another voting station, Mrs Bundiparsad said that the voting station at Estcourt High School was well-organised, sanitised and voting was a smooth process. “If you don’t vote, you don’t have a say,” she said.

Natasha and George van Niekerk.

The couple said that the voting process was quick and they were hoping that their vote would make living a little easier.

Reichei and Radika Naidoo.

Reichei and Radika Naidoo said they hoped their votes would contribute towards change in the town. “We need road repairs and better service delivery,” they added.

Reverend Kwazi Nduli and Matron Wasilah Adam.

Reverend Nduli who is the chairperson of the Uthukela Community Police Forum was pleased to see there were control measures in place at voting stations. Matron Adam said the service from the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) officials was extremely professional.

A group of senior citizens that cast their vote at the Forderville Hall.

Sew Ramdeen said that residents were concerned about the declining rates of service delivery rendered by the local municipality and hope his vote would change this.

The couple said that voting at the Forderville Hall was a little disorganised but were glad that they had cast their vote. “We need to make a change, especially when it comes to service delivery. One votes makes a difference,” they commented.

Andiswa Radebe and Nontuthuzelo Taaibosch.
The pair cast their vote at the Colita Community Hall. Nontuthuzelo is a first time voter and said that her vote gave her the voice to help make a change.

Mr Luthuli is anxiously awaiting the election results and was excited to cast his vote.
