DUNDEE KZN: Serious questions raised over SIU report

The Section 106 report and the Special Investigation Unit's (SIU) report hold damning allegations against the municipality

There are serious questions being raised over two reports pertaining to fraud, corruption, and maladministration as well as fruitless and wasteful expenditure at the Endumeni Municipality.

The Section 106 report and the Special Investigation Unit’s (SIU) report hold damning allegations against the municipality but these were never brought to public attention.

Naresh Gopie, the DA’s Ward 2 candidate recently forwarded a letter to the Municipal Manager, asking for clarity as to why the report was not dealt with.

“It is confounding as to why officials who are purportedly implicated in these SIU reports, have been on suspension for longer than two years on full pay whilst their disciplinary inquiries just keep getting postponed,” Mr Gopie said in his letter.

Mr Gopie also questioned whether the Section 106 report and the SIU report was ever addressed at the level of council and/or the media.

The Municipality has failed to respond to Mr Gopie’s letter and failed to respond to a media enquiry as well.
