GLENCOE KZN: Academic achievers honoured at Sarel Cilliers

Congratulations to all the newly elected Prefects and to the prize winners

Last Thursday saw the awarding of academic accolades to the Sarel Cilliers Matrics of 2021. The evening also saw the much anticipated announcement of the 2022 School Prefects, Hostel Prefects and Media Prefects. It was an evening of celebrating the successful 2021 academic year, and also featured a beautiful performance by the school choir, celebrating the musical talents of the Sarel learners and staff.

Highlights of the awards for academic prowess were Revashan Kali, the Head Boy of Sarel Cilliers, being awarded Gold Scroll with Laurel Wreath for achieving an aggregate of above 80% from Grade 8 through to Grade 12. This award is very rarely handed out and is the highest accolade the school can present to any learner. With wise words of wisdom very eruditely delivered, they were a pleasure to listen to and their pride in the school was an inspiration for those who will stepping into their shoes. The Head Prefects for School and Hostel will be announced in 2022.

Honary guest for the evening was Mr Terry Worley and his wife Helen. Mr Worley, as the face of the Courier Newspaper, has been a close friend and associate of Sarel Cilliers for many years, being a stalwart supporter at most of the school’s sports fixtures. Mr Worley will be greatly missed in his capacity as a news hound but we wish him every success in his new venture.

Congratulations to all the newly elected Prefects and to the prize winners. You are all living proof that hard work and dedication certainly reap rewards.
