Six-hour shutdown turns into 2 days without water in Ezakheni

uThukela says that load-shedding is now affecting the plant

A press release by uThukela informed residents that urgent maintenance and a shutdown at the Ezakheni Water Treatment Works (WTW) on Wednesday (October 27) was on the cards.

Partial shutdown for only six hours?

The message stated that the plant was to be partially operational, with only one of the two stages interrupted for no longer than six hours.

However, the six hours has now turned into two days without water, which is a nightmare for residents.

The reason given by the district municipality for the delay in restoring water is that load-shedding is now affecting the plant.

Still no water

All areas receiving water from the Ezakheni WTW are still without water at this time.

Last night (October 27), residents had dirty water coming out of their taps for a few hours…

No water tankers

Furious residents say that every time there is an issue at the water works and a schedule is given by uThukela, it goes way over that time-frame. They add that uThukela don’t even bother to send out water tankers to help the desperate community.
