The 40-year-old and her crew mate had been attending to two patients they had picked up, when they came under fire.
Mrs Dlamini lost her life, while her colleague sustained three gunshot wounds.
Calls for swift justice followed in the wake of the murder, which was labelled as ‘spine-chilling and cowardly’ by Health MEC Nomagugu Simelane.

The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) called upon KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala to intervene.

“As the Commander-in-Chief of KwaZulu-Natal, he should be very concerned about these senseless attacks on paramedics, which are de-stabilising the provision of healthcare to those in need. He must ensure that this matter is treated with the urgency it deserves,” said the IFP KZN provincial spokesperson for health, Ncamisile Nkwanyana.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) KZN spokesperson on health, Dr Rishigen Viranna, said: “There must be urgent steps put in place until the ‘whole-of-society’ approach takes hold in communities and the justice system holds attackers to account. In this regard, the DA has continuously called for police escorts for paramedics driving into high-risk crime areas.”

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan said that no arrests have been made following the murder and attempted murder.

“The matter is under investigation by Estcourt detectives and they are following up on leads,” he said.

A call has been made to the public to come forward with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect/s.
