Glencoe farmer denied bail for teenagers’ murder

Upon hearing the news, community members rejoiced outside court.

Glencoe farmer Mr Garth Simpson appeared in court today for judgment in his bail hearing, charged with the murder of 17-year-old Qiniso Dlamini.

He was also charged with the possession of an unlawful firearms and ammunition.

In reading out his verdict, Magistrate Mkhize said that the defence failed to prove exceptional circumstances, arguing that the health of Mr Simpson and his age did not constitute exceptional circumstances.

He also agreed with the state’s assertions that the community would be up in arms in Mr Simpson were to be released on bail.

Upon hearing the news, community members rejoiced outside court.

The case was postponed to November 25 for further investigations.
