Ladysmith KZN: IFP hands over house to needy family

The event was held at the new Hlongwane residence

Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) Deputy President Inkosi Mzamo Buthelezi handed over a house to the Hlongwane family in the Esidakeni area of Burford (Ward 14) on Sunday, October 10. The event was held at the new Hlongwane residence, with a large crowd of IFP leaders and party members filling up the marquee and spilling out into the road.

He said that when they heard there was a family without any shelter over their heads, they took the decision to build a home for them before summer comes.

“I think people can see what we can do as a party. Mind you, we are not in power in this municipality. It is up to the community to decide, but we are ready to lead this district like before,” said Buthelezi.

“The reason we didn’t go to court when other political parties wanted the postponement is because we knew we were ready for the elections,” he added.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Ms Busisiwe Zwane said they are delighted and sincerely thank the IFP for what they have done. “We now have a proper house and we wish the IFP all the best in the elections.”
