ESTCOURT KZN: Pump station ‘challenges’ cause water interruptions

"We anticipate that every affected areas will have normal water supply by midday"

Residents in parts of Estcourt experienced water interruptions this morning (October 13).

While some residents had no water supply, others had muddy water flowing from taps.

uThukela District Municipality has issued the following statement regarding the water interruptions:

“uThukela District Municipality informs the community of Estcourt and Forderville that we have experienced challenges in our Canna Avenue pump station that feeds reservoirs in Forderville, as a result our reservoirs ran out of water. By the time the reservoirs were recharged, it was noticed that water has been contaminated with silt which is the case when the reservoirs run dry completely. The situation has been attended to and we have started pumping up again. We anticipate that every affected areas will have normal water supply by midday. Apologies for the inconvenience caused”.
