A bakkie was involved in a fatal crash this afternoon (October 9) on the N11 just before the Driefontein turn-off.
The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger was uninjured.
Speaking to a friend of the driver, who was at the scene, he said he was with the deceased earlier in the day and was shocked when he received a call to inform him of the horror crash.
Ladysmith SAPS, ER24 and emergency personnel responded.

The exact cause of the crash is unknown at this stage.
Traffic is disrupted at the moment, as the authorities carry out an investigation. Those travelling on the N11 heading towards Newcastle are warned to exercise caution.
