The South African Weather Service has issued a warning that severe thunderstorms are expected between 14:00 and 22:00 that could result in localised damage to infrastructure and settlements, and loss of livestock.
Avoid travelling on bridges and roads in low-lying areas, as these are susceptible to flooding and there may be sinkholes.
Damage to structures and vehicles as a result of hail is possible, as well as fires due to lightning and injuries due to flying debris.

If a bad storm hits, stay indoors, well clear of windows. Shelter your pets, cover vehicles and disconnect electrical appliances to guard against them being struck by lightning. If outdoors, seek shelter immediately, but not under trees, telephone lines or power lines.
