Ladysmith KZN: Political parties commit to free and fair elections

Representatives of the parties that will be contesting the elections were present at the signing

Yesterday (October 6), political parties in the uThukela District that are registered for the upcoming local elections signed a ‘Code of Conduct’ pledge. The event was hosted by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) and was held at Settlers Park. Representatives of the parties that will be contesting the elections on November 1 were present at the signing.

By signing this pledge, the parties commit to conducting themselves in accordance with the Electoral Code of Conduct.

This Code of Conduct promotes conditions that are conducive to free and fair elections. It also creates a climate of tolerance, free political campaigning and open public debate. The code is in effect from the day of proclamation of an election until the announcement of the results.
