Moses Mdletshe has always been passionate about making a difference, and this is exactly what he now gets to do for a living.

As the principal of the Thulebona Khumalo Finishing School in Glencoe, Mr Mdletshe and his team of teachers help learners upgrade their matric results by providing tuition classes to them. They offer classes in Maths, Maths Lit, Physics, Life Sciences, Geography, English, Economics, Business Studies and Accounting.
They also offer extra classes for learners from Grade 8 to 12.

Growing up in Bergville, Mr Mdletshe dreamed of being a mechanic, but poor matric marks stopped him from doing so.

Wanting to help ensure that other learners never experience that same feeling, Mr Mdletshe then became a privately paid teacher studying at the Indumiso Teacher’s College in Pietermaritzburg while doing so.
Teaching Afrikaans and History, he was then placed at Glencoe Secondary in the early 80s.

After seven years there, he was promoted to the Head of Humanities in 1992 before being appointed as the principal of Boschkloof Combined School, located at the Maria Ratchitz Mission, in 1996.

The school had only five teachers and went up to Grade 9. Over the next 18 years, Mr Mdletshe truly made his mark at the school. Attendance grew astronomically and English was made compulsory at the school. The school even won a district competition promoting English as a spoken language in schools.

In 2011, the first Grade 12 class in the school’s history wrote their matric exams and produced a 100% Bachelor’s Degree.

In 2017, Mr Mdletshe started the Thulebona Khumalo Finishing School, committed to helping learners improve their results to better their lives.

The school was named after Thulebona Khumalo, the original owner of the premises.
Mr Khumalo built the facility to serve as a skills development centre, but passed on before it was opened.
The school has four qualified teachers and is truly making a difference as the only finishing school in the area.

Mr Mdletshe thanks all those who have assisted in setting up the school and keeping it running.
He has also appealed to the public at large for financial support to help the school continue making a difference in the lives of learners in the area.

For more information or to support the school, contact Mr Mdlethse on 072 552 2465.
