DUNDEE KZN : Half a million rand worth of dagga seized by Traffic Officers and SAPS

Dundee recently made headlines for all the right reasons, thanks to the dedicated officers from the Traffic Department and the South African Police Service (SAPS).
While conducting ‘stop and search’ operations in the area, officers noticed a bakkie with a trailer heading towards them before suddenly making a U-turn when the driver spotted the roadblock.
Realising there was something suspicious going on, Traffic Officer Thusi, Traffic Officer Nakedi and Supt Coetzee gave chase and managed to stop the vehicle. When SAPS and Traffic Officers searched the trailer, nine huge bags of dagga were found. Each bag weighed approximately 50kg.
Police investigations revealed that the vehicle was coming from the Eastern Cape and was headed towards Gauteng.
The driver, a 37-year-old man, has since appeared in the Dundee Magistrate’s Court for dealing in dagga.
The case has attracted national attention, with numerous news outlets reporting on the massive drug bust. Police officers have been extra vigilant of late and recently also made a massive drug bust in Gauteng.
In that instance, one man was arrested after he was found with more than R1 million worth of raw heroin that was headed for Gauteng.
