NEWCASTLE KZN: Two suspects nabbed for robbery at knifepoint

Two suspects were arrested after a resident came forward with information.

Newcastle SAPS is investigating a case of robbery with a weapon or instrument, following an incident on Murchison Street earlier this month (September 20).

According to Lizzy Arumugam from SAPS Corporate Communications, the complainant reported he was on his way to work when three men approached him and threatened him with knives.

He was then robbed at knifepoint, after which the suspects fled the scene.

“A helpful member of the community approached the complainant and informed him she knew [the suspects] and provided details.”

SAPS was contacted for assistance and two suspects, aged 33 and 27 respectively, were later apprehended. Official investigations into the incident are still underway.
