Ladysmith KZN: Cop car crashes in residential area

The official in the passenger seat was rushed to hospital

This morning (September 22), a police car (VW GTI) was involved in a collision with another vehicle at the Quality / Madras Street four-way stop.

The SAPS vehicle was evidently making its way from the K9 Unit premises to the CBD area.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan said that the matter is under investigation as to who is responsible for the accident.

The official in the passenger seat of the GTI was rushed to hospital by emergency personnel.

The driver of the other car was lucky to escape uninjured.

Residents in the area came out to see what had happened and if they could help in any way.

One of the residents said she heard a loud bang and rushed outside. “I couldn’t believe that a cop car had been involved in a smash-up with another vehicle,” she commented.

Towing services were on scene to take the vehicles away.
