Ladysmith KZN: Suspected murderer nabbed with illegal gun

The recovered firearm will be sent for ballistic testing

On Wednesday (September 15), an Intelligence-driven operation, consisting of the Bergville Visible Policing Unit as well as Uthukela District Crime Intelligence operatives, resulted in the arrest of a 34-year-old suspect wanted for murder. The team swooped on a house in the Vimbukhalo area, where the arrest was made.

The suspect had a 9mm pistol with nine rounds of ammunition in his possession. He was sought in connection with two cases of murder and stock theft.

The officers held another operation early on Friday morning (September 17) in the Emmaus area, where they netted the two outstanding suspects, aged 35 and 36.

The murders occurred last week in the Bergville area.

The suspects will appear in the Bergville Magistrate’s Court on Monday (September 20) and the recovered firearm will be sent for ballistic testing.
