Warriors from Lakeside and Mpofini Warriors from New Location in eBhukuzulu made it through to the finals. Warriors went on to win a hard-fought final that was decided on penalties.

Mlu Lambiso, a passionate young man with a love for the youth, always does his best to make sure that talent doesn’t go to waste. Mlu, who hails from the Lakeside area, says that working with and for the youth is a ‘calling’ to him.

On Saturday, he was part of a soccer tournament that was held at the Lakeside sports ground, where six teams went head-to-head and competed fiercely for the different prizes on offer. Two teams were from Bhekuzulu New Location and four teams from Lakeside. Warriors from Lakeside and Mpofini Warriors from New Location in eBhukuzulu made it through to the finals.

Warriors went on to win a hard-fought final that was decided on penalties. As the overall winners, they received a trophy, new sporting kit and medals. Mlu mentioned that there was also ladies’ soccer, who were playing for a league. He donated new kit to a team called ‘Stars Of Tomorrow’, saying, “These ladies have been playing soccer for a long time without having their own jerseys.

Every time they had to play, they had to borrow kit from other soccer teams, so they came to me and asked for assistance. Hence the new kit for the whole team.” Mlu concluded that, “We are here to encourage the youth by telling them to work on their talents, be off the streets, and be busy with something positive in the community so they can shy away from bad habits.

I am a gospel singer myself and I work with young people in the spheres of music, modelling and soccer. I want to see young people striving in whatever they do.”
