Ladysmith KZN: Men step up to fight gender-based violence

The district is experiencing a huge number of GBV incidents, and the cases are continuing to rise

On Tuesday last week (September 7), the ‘Bring Back Ubuntu’ organisation hosted a men’s summit at the uThukela District Offices in Ladysmith.

According to the organisation, the district is experiencing a large number of gender-based violence (GBV) incidents… and the cases continue to rise.

The summit was therefore seen as the ideal forum where men would come together, share their thoughts and seek solutions to deal with the scourge of GBV.

The organisation’s chairperson, Mr Lwazi Dube, said they will be doing the same in Estcourt and Bergville. “As an organisation, we hope to combat gender-based violence in our district by constructing and strengthening community-based structures and activities.”
