ESTCOURT KZN: A ‘good Friday’ at Estcourt Secondary School

The food parcels are designed to cater for a family of four for a month

Friday turned into a ‘Friyay’ for 120 learners at Estcourt Secondary School this morning (September 10). Thanks to the local branch of the Gift of the Givers Foundation, the learners received food parcels.

These food parcels, which are designed to cater for a family of four for a month incudes grocery essentials like maize meal, rice, cooking oil and tinned goods.

Gift of the Givers Estcourt community liaison Jaaved Khan recruited assistance from learners and educators to offload the large food hampers, which were then distributed to the learners that were identified by the school.

Estcourt Secondary School principal Marilyn Jordan expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the generous donation.
“I cannot even begin to say thank you. One of the learners said to me … ‘Miss, today we are breadwinners,” said Ms Jordan.
