Ladysmith KZN: 5 injured as taxi overturns on Hobsland Road

Farmers feel that the road should be tarred to prevent accidents like this

Five people were injured this afternoon (September 4) in a crash along the Hobsland Road.

It is believed that the driver of a taxi travelling towards Ladysmith lost control of the vehicle and veered off the roadway, crashing into a wall and then into a ditch.

The injured were treated on scene by paramedics.

Police and emergency personnel responded to the scene, along with farmers in the area.

The farmers are concerned about the high number of accidents that happen on this road. They understand that traffic accidents do happen, but say that a lot of the crashes could be avoided if the roadway was tarred. It is now a gravel road which they say is incredibly dangerous to drive on.

The farmers feel that the municipality needs to act fast and tar the road to stop innocent lives being lost.
