NEWCASTLE KZN: Get your Covid-19 vaccine at this weekend’s pop-up site

A mobile vaccination site will be set up this weekend at the Trim Park (Allen Street) from 9:00 until 16:00.

The Amajuba District Department of Health is ramping up its vaccination efforts, now offering Newcastle residents the opportunity to receive their Covid-19 vaccine over the weekend.

A mobile vaccination site will be set up this weekend on Saturday, September 4, and Sunday, September 5, at the Trim Park (Allen Street) from 9:00 until 16:00. Both the Pfizer and the Johnson & Johnson vaccines are being offered at the site.

Residents over the age of 18 qualify for the vaccine and need to take their ID with them.

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases describes vaccination as a safe and simple way to strengthen the immune system to build resistance against disease-causing germs. Once vaccinated, an individual will have a level of protection (or immunity), against that specific harmful disease.

Vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 allow a person to develop antibodies and T-cells to certain parts of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, so that when a person is exposed to the real virus, they can protect themselves against infection.
