NEWCASTLE KZN: Twins advance to Mrs Universe finale

SMS voting is open for the ‘People’s Choice Award’, which secures an automatic spot into the Top 10 for the winner.

Newcastle-born twins, Nonhlanhla Kunene and Siyethemba Mthethwa, are among the 20 finalists competing for a chance to represent Africa at the Mrs Universe pageant in South Korea later this year.

In mid-July, the twins learned they had made it to the semi-finals in the pageant, directed by former Miss South Africa (2010), Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala, which is open to married, divorced or widowed women between the ages of 20 and 50 from across Africa.

The grand finale takes place on Friday, September 24. However, the ‘Pageant Week’ begins on Tuesday, September 21.

SMS voting is open for the ‘People’s Choice Award’, which secures an automatic spot into the Top 10 for the winner. How to vote: SMS Queen ‘Name Surname (of the contestant)’ to 33282. Each SMS costs R1.50 and voting closes on September 23.

For the full interview with the twins, see the regional Northern Natal News in this week’s edition of the Newcastle Advertiser.
