Ladysmith KZN: School principals kept up-to-date with technology

The MEC handed over 442 smart tablets to principals in the district

Today (September 2), the MEC for Education in the province, Kwazi Mshengu, visited the Uthukela District as part of the department’s ICT roll-out programme. The event was held at the Agra Crescent Hall, where MEC Mshengu handed over 442 smart tablets to school principals.

The MEC said they had committed during the tabling of the budget that they will provide tablets to all principals in the district and now they are keeping their promise.

He added that, as the department, they had to come up with interventions to keep abreast of the times and come up with modern ways of doing things in schools, since technology is constantly changing.

“We want to automate the system so that we can be efficient and save money that is spent on travelling allowances. That money can then be invested back into much-needed class resources,” said the MEC.
