ESTCOURT KZN: Deadly weekend on the roads

A total of four people were killed and nine injured during four separate incidents on the roads since Friday

A total of four people were killed and nine injured during four separate incidents on the roads since Friday (August 27).

In the first incident, a pedestrian was knocked over and killed near Tatane in Loskop at about 13:00. Reports suggest that the man had jumped off a taxi and tried to cross the road but did not see another vehicle approaching.

On the morning on August 28 at about 8:30, a head-on collision between two vehicles on the R103 near Isaac’s Well was reported. The driver from one of the vehicles was trapped inside and sustained critical injuries. Two other minor injuries were reported on scene.

On Sunday (August 29), one person was killed when a Toyota Fortuner collided with a truck on the Loskop Road near Ennersdale at about 15:00.

Emergency services reported that the truck was turning into a farm road when the driver of the Fortuner crashed into it. Four other people from the Fortuner sustained injuries ranging from serious to minor.

Two people were killed during this crash near Cornfields.

At about 20:00 on August 29, emergency services were called to the R103 near Cornfields for another crash. Tragically two people were killed and two others injured when the driver lost control of the vehicle, overturned and then rolled down an embankment.
