“I was born and I got married on this farm. My husband and all of my children were buried here, so I would rather die than be moved from the place where I have spent all my life,” said a teary-eyed Thembekile.

On Friday (August 27), MEC for Social Development Ms Nonhlanhla Khoza heard about the old lady’s plight while visiting the community of Dukuza in Bergville as part of Women’s Month celebrations.

The MEC’s department, together with other stakeholders (including local government leadership and traditional leadership), has committed to sorting out this matter with the urgency it deserves.
