NEWCASTLE KZN: Sunnyridge and Signal Hill municipal accounts may be incorrect

The municipality says letters will be delivered to each residence of the accounts which were affected.

Electricity and water consumption in Signal Hill and Sunnyridge has not been captured correctly.

In a notice issued this morning, the Newcastle Municipality’s Communications Unit explained there were errors with the billing of municipal accounts in the two suburbs, meaning the amount reflected as payable on municipal statements (dated August 21, 2021) may not be correct.

The municipality is currently working to rectify any errors.

“Letters will be delivered to each residence of the accounts which were affected. Should your water and/or electricity meter reading be missing from your account, you will need to pay the amount per the SMS or letter which will be delivered.”

The letter is also being emailed to affected consumers who are registered to receive statements by email. The municipality has apologised for the inconvenience caused.

Residents are also reminded that the municipality is currently in the process of conducting a Smart Metering Pilot Project in Signal Hill and Sunnyridge.
