Ladysmith KZN: Mayor survives ‘motion of no confidence’

The ANC disputed the motion, saying it was baseless

Today (August 26), the ‘motion of no confidence’ that was put forth against Alfred Duma Local Municipality Mayor Vincent Madlala was unsuccessful.

The motion was instituted by the Democratic Alliance (DA) and was one of today’s items during the council meeting that was held ‘virtually’.

The ANC disputed the motion, saying it was baseless and they would not support it.

The opposition parties are not happy about the way the voting was done, with some saying it should have been held by means of a secret ballot. Another complaint was that the administration failed to give the exact number of votes, which, according to the opposition, raised doubts as to the authenticity of the outcome.
