Ladysmith KZN: Residents promised RDP houses, but where are they?

"The houses are not built and people are homeless"

Some Limit Hill residents are now living on the streets after their RDP houses were broken down earlier
this year (March / April). The houses were demolished so that new ones could be built, but the residents are now homeless and wondering when their new homes will materialise.

Ladysmith resident Jennifer Rehman, who belongs to the Ratepayers’ Association, decided to step in and help after seeing the outcry on a WhatsApp group.  She tried to find out what was happening regarding the construction of the houses. “The houses are not built and people are homeless. This is simply not acceptable!” she fumes.

In June this year, the construction company said they didn’t have the proper materials to build the houses and were waiting for the said materials.
