ESTCOURT KZN: Firearms off the streets in Loskop

A third success came when police recovered cattle that were suspected to be stolen

A team of police, working together during a joint operation, were successful in removing two illegal firearms off the streets of Loskop.

Police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said that the operation was conducted on August 11 and began in the Nkomozini area.

“The team proceeded spotted a taxi with three occupants. The vehicle was pulled over and the men were searched. One of the occupants, aged 20, was found in possession of pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition,” explained Captain Gwala.

The next stop was in the Ngonyameni area where a suspicious stationary vehicle that was parked on the side of the road was searched.

“A 57-year-old suspect was found in possession of a revolver with four rounds of ammunition. Both suspects were placed under arrest for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition,” said the captain.

The arrested pair appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on August 12.

A third success came when police recovered cattle that were suspected to be stolen. The six animals were left abandoned in Loskop.
